500 Lantern Blvd
Melbourne, Florida 32934
Originally know as "Crane Creek", Melbourne is located on the banks of a natural harbor of the Indian River Lagoon where the freshwater creek flows into the saltwater lagoon. The harbor provided fertile soil and safe harbor for the barges bringing imports to the peninsula.
During the 1970's ninety new manufacturing companies spurred the growth of Melbourne. Rockwell Industries brought radio and television equipment to build a new type of airplane radio. The Dictaphone arrived with the development of new copy and office equipment while Acopian Manufacturing had new designs for modern industrial plants.
In 1996, Melbourne served as the official host city of the Olympic Torch Relay for the Olympic Centennial Games held in Atlanta.
Home of the Filmmaker's Festival, Arts Festival, Aviation Day and Oktoberfest, Melbourne offers beaches, fishing, golf, and snorkeling. Enjoy a day of shopping in Historic Downtown Melbourne.
