If you don't want to have any surprises, it is a good idea to have a home inspection done prior to listing your home. This will give you the opportunity to fix any unforeseen problems. If you wait until after you have a contract on your home and there are problems, the buyer may want to renegotiate the contract price, or worst case decide not to buy your home.
