Dunedin Florida

In the quaint village-like town of Dunedin, you can stroll along the brick sidewalks of downtown and take a walking tour of its many historical sites.

Out of this small town of cotton farmers and citrus growers came big ideas.  Along with being one of Pinellas county's first ports, Dunedin is the birthplace of citrus processing machinery and frozen juice concentrate.  The town helped in the war efforts with the assembly of the amphibious tractor, the Alligator.  The Alligator played an important roll in the Pacific phase of World War II/

In addition to farming, Dunedin was a winter play ground for the wealthy.  The socialites who were fond of sailing along the St Joseph Sound formed the Dunedin Yacht Club.

Just off Dunedin's shore lie two unspoiled islands: Caladesi and Honeymoon Islands.  These State Parks along with being refuges to several endangered species of birds are open to the public for picnics, swimming, boating, and fishing.  Guided walking tours are given by the park rangers and a public ferry provides access between the two islands.
